The strike by Chicago Public Schools teachers is generating fallout that will adversely affect athletes around the city.

The rules of the Illinois High School Athletics Association (IHSA) state that teams from any school that has not held classes for seven school days must practice a minimum of two days before they can play a game.

That rule means that the school district must settle the strike by Oct. 30, if Chicago prep football teams are to participate in the State tournament.

The Kenwood Broncos are scheduled to play their final regular season game on Friday, Oct. 25, against Peyton Prep. that game is almost sure to be canceled.
