Dear Editor,

I have been a continuous subscriber to the print edition of the Hyde Park Herald (HPH) for 47 years. For the first 22 years I lived in Hyde Park and the next 25 years I am living downtown. I have been a faculty member of the University of Chicago. In full disclosure,  My children attended the University of Chicago Laboratory Schools (UCLS) and played high school sports in the late 1980s. Now I have some grandchildren attending the lab School and playing high school sports. Your newspaper has recently changed ownership and the letters and content seem more balanced and relevant to the entire community.

The HPH recently started to report high school athletics for High Park Academy and Kenwood Academy. I even noticed that the University of Chicago athletic teams are appropriately getting more recognition for some of their recent achievements. The only piece that is missing is that there is a 3rd high school in the middle of your community: The University of Chicago Laboratory School. At least give it equitable coverage to the other high schools in your community. Who knows this action might even stabilize or increase your digital and electronic subscriptions.

By the way during this last academic year there was serious discussion about having these 3 high teams compete against each other in different sports. This action would help bring the community together.
