Back on the Trail

Monday's intermittent rain couldn’t deter Chicagoans from taking to the Lakefront Trail as it opened officially after months of being closed to fight the coronavirus pandemic. This cyclist heads for the path and passes lakefront path at Promontory Point, 55th Street and Lake Shore Drive, passing urging all users to keep moving.

Thank Goodness the lakefront has reopened. It is great to be able to go over, see how high the lake has risen. I'd like to ask that a birder would go over, take a look at the beaches, at 59th, at 63rd, at the SSCC's Nature area. Keep an eye out for piping plovers, an endangered shore bird. Due to pandemic, these areas have been closed off. This could be inviting to wildlife. Piping plovers have returned to Montrose. I'm curious - have any nested on our shoreline?
